Or is it pretty much the same storyline for the quests with different looking monsters to kill?

Basically the same type of quests, everything lvl 1-20ish is really just to get you used to the way the game works. Horde get Ragefire Chasm tho (the quests open up at level 8-10... the dungeon's tuned for lvl 13-14)... which is insane XP wise... since Alliance have no dungeons unltil they reach 18-19 and can do VC. But the quests in general are different... horde story-line obviously instead of the alliance one... but the basic mechanics of the quests are all the same, just tuned to get new-players comfortable with how shit works.

Basically you run around killing things or finding/gathering items or you kill something and getting his arm or his head or w/e

Lol yeah. Undeads rock. :P There quests are so easy and like, just go on a flow. Like, they aren't all over the place like the Orcs' Tauren's Troll's Etc.
I also enjoy Undead quests... Especially with my Voidwalker who acts as a tank ^_^

I absolutly hated the Undead quests, actually, to the point where I've only quested Brill once... and hated every minute of it. Brill quests blow ass, I've never run so much pre-Barrens in my life. The scarlet crusade quest chain made me want to just stop playing theg game right there and then.
The Orc/Troll questing zone is much better until you hit razor hill, then it turns into a pre-barrens marathon run.
The Tauren quests are more or less of the same, I dunno, I hated leveling my druid in Mulgor.
Eversong Woods (blood elf 1-10) and running ghostlands to 15-18 has been by far the best 1-20 questing I've done so far. The Barrens are unavoidable, but with the additional grave yards they implimented, it's really not too bad anymore. The one Undead place that I do like tho, from around 12-18ish is Silverpine Forest... that seems like a fairly small area with easy/nonheadache quests.
My advice for leveling to 20... would be your starting area to lvl 5, eversong woods (falconwing square is where you'd start) and then dabble in a bit of Ghostlands... and then a bit of Silverpine Forest. Plus... the money/rewards that Eversong/Ghostlands give are FAR superiour to the ones you'd get in Silverpine/The Barrens.

I always liked eversong/ghostlands the best.
The reputation rewards guy in Tranguillen is great for some cheap gear that has great stats, and the ghostlands has those great quests that get you the blue items when you hit 18 or so.
Mulgore wasnt bad but it gets boring after level 7 or so.
I cant stand the UD starting area its just so boring and it requires you to cover quite a bit of ground.
Orc/Troll area is pretty lame when you get to Razor Hill/the Troll town.
Most of my level 10's I just got to level 5 and then hit eversong/ghostlands.
AC wise they all suck:
Darnassus is really boring,
Human are is WAY to crowded on most servers. When I played AC you couldnt get through Goldshire because there were so many ppl dueling
The draenei are is probably the best but I havent gotten past 8 there
gnome/dwarf is the worst starting area in the game imo. Its crowded the things you need to kill are always dead and its boring.

I had this theory when i first played WoW.
I found that the Horde are geared for quick lvling to 20 while the alliance is more geared for lvl 20-30 With Stackades and VC.
I also found that the most annoying starter quests were for the Night Elves. you had to go all over that freaking tree From darnassuss to The first village and back again and all around i just fund it overwhelming trying to find items and quest finishers. I give the perfect starter and post starter quests to The gnomes and Dwarves of Dun Morogh. a nice small area with lots to do and not that much running around too. the humans have a basic area its inbetween the two starting areas. And the Post starters of th Dranei don't even get me STARTED at how much running i had o freaking do!!!!!!
Other than that I did like one point of the NE starting area and that is if you wanted to be a herbalist then there were herbs almost everywhere so you had a good supply for fas lvling of the skill.
Other than that though the quests were confusing and very hard to understand and the enemies in some of them i just couldn't find.

In my opinion the beginning quests don't matter, make a char with good racials for your class and persevere through the extra 5 mins to find something. Have a lil drinky drink b4 you play and you won't get mad too

Undead is awesome. All my higher level chars (minus my 40 rogue... I made him when BC came out so he was BE lawlz) are undead.

I agree that Undead are the best, since my main is an Undead Priest. Will of the Forsaken and Cannibalize are great.

Crusty you need to play more than 30 seconds at a time. You always log off before I can type, Hey crusty.
